Councilmember resigns as citizen asks for community support
East Carbon City Councilmember Terry Harrison, resigned via letter on March 20th from his duties as a city official. Harrison sighted personal reasons for his departure for the municipal government and his resignation was formally accepted by city mayor Orlando LaFontaine at the March 24 council meeting. At the same meeting, East Carbon resident Bridget Hopkins asked residents to honor the memory of her daughter Karen Hopkins who was killed on Mother's Day in 2007. As a way of honoring Karen, who was included in "15 Reasons Why Zero is the Only Acceptable Number" book, Bridget asked that city officials post new seat belt warning signs throughout the town.
