Tammy Rittenour, an assistant research professor of geology at Utah State University, works with the flute found in Range Creek in late 2006 as she tries to evaluate it's age by using optical stimulated luminescence. The process uses the materials, such a sand, that have filled the flute over the years as it was wedged in a crack in a cliff to determine the minimum age of the artifact. More on this process and the flute in the Thursday edition of the Sun Advocate.
