The Mont Harmon boys varsity basketball team won both the Castle Valley Activities Association League and Tournament Championships with a perfect 8-0 season this past week.

Mont Harmon defeated Canyon View in the first round of the tournament, 68-12. With the win over Canyon View and a Helper win over San Rafael, the cross county rivals squared off in the CVAA Championship Game.

In the end Mont Harmon defeated Helper 62-28 to cap off the perfect season.

In the Canyon View game the Pirates were led by Julian Tamllos with 26 points and seven steals. Jordan Blanc added 15 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to complete the triple double and Jaren McCourt scored 15 points and nine boards.

Bryce Blackburn, Dakota Cisneros and Dylan Vogrinec had solid defensive performances leading to many easy transition buckets and Daulton Nelson was a strong presence on the boards.

"All year we have played tough defense and against Canyon View we had 32 steals and forced over 40 turnovers," stated head coach Jeff Blanc.

The Pirate defense held Canyon View to two field goals the entire game.

In the championship game, Helper came out strong and with a lot of energy. But after the first quarter of play the Pirates held a 13-6 lead.

Mont Harmon stepped up the defensive pressure in the second quarter outscoring the Rams 27-6 for a 28 point halftime lead.

Jordan Blanc led the Pirates with 22 points and 12 rebounds and five blocks. Julian Tamllos added 12 points and six steals. Dakota Cisneros hit three treys for his nine points and Jaren McCourt put in eight points and 10 rebounds.

"It was a great team effort once again," indicated Blanc. "Our guys have worked hard all year and each game we focused on getting better and I feel by the end of the season we were playing our best ball."

Members of the Mont Harmon Team included Bryce Blackburn, Julian Tamllos, Rulis Trejo, Dakota Cisneros, Luke Olsen, Dylan Vogrinec, Dustin Norried, Cody Bradford, Jordan Blanc, Jaren McCourt, Daulton Nelson and Rashaud Burton.
