Another one bites the dust to Lady Dinos
The Lady Dinos knew that the rematch with the North Sanpete Hawks was not going to be easy.
After stomping them on their home turf, now they would have to go into the Hawks arena to face a team bent on revenge. With a fourth quarter push, the Dinos came out with a 48-36 win and their last look at North Sanpete as a region foe.
It was a hard fought first half of play between the two teams. Carbon was ahead by two at the first break and North Sanpete evened it up to head to the locker room knotted at 20. It stayed close in the third as the battle continued.
In the fourth quarter it was do or die for the Dinos. They knew they needed to step it up and they did just that. Carbon outscored the Hawks down the stretch 18-4 and secured another valuable region win.
Britni Greenwood played a key role in securing the win with some big offensive rebounds in the final period. She prevented the Hawks from getting second chance points. She was named the "garbage girl" of the game with eight. Player of the game honors went to high scoring Patricia Smith who slammed in 18 points with five assists and five rebounds. She went six of eight from the line.
Coach Carlson was relieved to be finished with the game, "Oh my heck, the whole game was bad. We couldn't get anything to go our way. In the fourth the girls really stepped it up. They realized the urgency, if they were going to get the win and they did what it took to get it done." she went on to say. "Hopefully that is a good sign. We usually don't have to play a good fourth. We have had some good leads and have been able to cruise to the end. Its good to see them play hard in the fourth."
Even though it was a tough week on the road for the Lady Dinos, they see no relief as the week begins. Emery will invade the house of Dinos looking to sweep Carbon out of any chance at a first place finish. Game time will be Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The Dinos are looking for some help from a large and boisterous crowd to cheer them on.
