Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans were 0-4 in conference play as they faced off against the 2-2 CEU Golden Eagles on Saturday night. CNCC stayed winless as CEU beat them 72- 63. It wasn't, however, a cake walk for the Eagles to get that third win of the conference season.

CEU jumped out to a 9-2 lead only to have CNCC go a 7-0 run to tie the score. The game seesawed back and fourth, but every time CEU would get close, the Spartans would come back with a three point shot. Halftime found the Eagles down by four.

In the second half, CNCC continued to hit threes as CEU struggled. At the first media time out, the hole had grown to 6 points. CEU then went on a 6-0 run and tied the score.

But the Spartans weren't through and went on an 11-0 run. With 3:17 left in the game, CEU once again came close to the lead and trailed by only a point. CEU forced a CNCC turn over and scored on free throws to get ahead for the first time in the half.

CEU held on to the lead the rest of the way. CNCC made a valiant effort to get back in, but couldn't continue to play the full 40 minutes. Five CNCC players fouled out of the game.

CEU got it together starting at the 9:00 minute mark and finished the second half on a 30-11 run and luckily left Rangley, Colorado with a win.

The same two teams play a double header this weekend in Price on Friday and Saturday. CEU improved to 3-2 in conference play while CNCC remain winless.

The Lady Eagles also walked away from Rangley with a much needed first conference win. They played CNCC for the first time this season and beat them 81-65.

Veronica Siqueiros led the team with 15 points with all her points coming from beyond the three point arc. Adrianna Cordova put up 12 points, Kasey Day added 13 and Kaylie Robinson dropped in 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win.

The ladies also have a re-match with CNCC this weekend. They play Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. The men's games will follow.
