I feel the need to respond to the letter from David Fryer that was published in the Jan. 18 edition of the Sun Advocate.

At first I was going to respond in anger, but then I thought I could teach him something. Contrary to his description of Democrats as like dictators, tyrants and taxes, Democrats and unions brought us social security, medicare and pensions.

I am 70 years old and live on a pension, social security and medicare. I suspect many of the people in East Carbon do the same if they are seniors. I am a liberal Democrat and have been so my entire life and I am proud of it.

It might do Mr. Fryer well to stop listening to Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.
