HELPER/NORTH TUSTIN, Calif - Edwin Brent Marchetti, known as Brent to friends and family, passed away on Jan. 23, 2009 in his home in North Tustin, Calif.
Born in Standardville on April 26, 1940, Brent grew up in Helper.
He attended the University of Utah, where he played baseball and golf for the university and earned his bachelor's and Master's degrees in 1963 and 1965.
A passionate sports fan, Brent enjoyed attending sporting events with his sons, Marc and Mike.
He was an avid golfer as well as a die-hard fan of the Angels, Chargers and, especially his favorite team, the University of Utah Utes.
Brent cherished his family. He took great pride in his sons and adored his grandchildren.
His generosity, compassion and loyalty will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Though his death was unexpected, we take comfort knowing that our dad is at God's side in heaven with the true love of his life, our mother and his wife of 37 years, Diane S. Marchetti.
Brent is survived by his two sons, Marc and Mike; two daughters-in-law, Rachel and Kajsa; five grandchildren, Roman, Ava, Mia, Gino and Elena; and his sister, Brenda Moeller of Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Cathedral, 566 S. Glassell Street, Orange, CA 92866.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Diane S. Marchetti Memorial Foundation, which supports the Make-a-Wish Foundation, 12801 Del Rey Drive, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
