On Friday Jan. 9th the Lady Eagles opened conference play against Northern Idaho, by far the best team CEU has faced this year. CEU women lost the first conference game of the season to NIC 79-64. A different day but same results for the women's team on Saturday CEU dropped their second game in a row to Southern Idaho 95-65.

On Friday,Veronica Siqueiros led the team with 11 points. Libby Alon scored 10 points while Kaylie Robison grabbed nine rebounds.

Coach Paur described CEU's performance in the first half of the game as, "the deer in the headlights effect."

NIC shot 54% from the field with 45% beyond the 3 point line, compared to CEU's 22% from the field. The closest the Lady Eagles got in the second half was within 10 with seven minutes to play. The Cardinals proved to be too much for the home team.

In the loss Saturday, Libby Alon led the team with 13 points. Robison again scooped in nine rebounds. Noticeably missing is the offensive output from the team's leading scorer, Kaylie Robison. This reflects the strong post play from the opponents this weekend.

The Eagles were only down by nine points at the half and the Eastern Utah squad felt they were still in the game. This changed very quickly with only 3 minutes gone off the second half clock. Coach Paur was then forced to just rotate all players in at prescribed times and hope to get through the night with minimum point spread. The damage was too great as the team went down by almost 40 points. This weekend was not beneficial for the home team as they open conference play with a 0-2 record.
