PRICE/TUCSON, Ariz. - It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father, Joseph Robert Forrester, on Dec. 22, 2008 in Tucson, Ariz.
Born Jan. 11, 1925, he was the oldest son of Joseph E. "Dode" Forrester and Evelyn Caldwell Forrester. He married Ruby Neilson in May 1945; later divorced. Married Blanch Manchester in 1965.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He came home to Price to own and operate Acme Cleaners with his parents and brother. In 1965, he traveled to Turkey to work for laundry services related to NATO for five years. He then bought the Medicine Hat Steam laundry in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, along with Joy's Styles Dress shop.
He was a respected part of the business community in Price and Medicine Hat. He was active in the Elks Lodge, the Masons and Shiners, Price Jaycees and various community organizations.
He retired to Tucson, Ariz., in 1995 with his wife, Blanche. She passed away later that year.
Bob is survived by his son, Scott (Sharon) Forrester, Victoria, British Columbia; daughter, Jodi (Daniel) Bittick, Medford, Ore.; stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Manchester, Grand Junction, Colo.; stepdaughter, Roma Perley, Las Vegas Nev.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Blanche; son, Michael Robert Forrester; stepson, Richard Manchester; and brother, Raymond E. Forrester.
A private family celebration of Dad's life is planned on his birthday in Tucson, Ariz.
