HELPER - After a noble and valiant life of service, our beloved father and grandfather, Elmer S. Heino, age 80, peacefully passed from this life to be reunited with his wife and sweetheart on Dec. 9, 2008 while surrounded by his loving family.

Elmer was born March 7, 1928 to Axel and Hilda Heino, who migrated from Sweden in 1916. They settled in Latuda, raising three sons, Paul, Elmer and Max.

Elmer married the love of his life, Ruth Stone, Feb. 10, 1951 and they spent 13 years in Latuda. The remainder of Ruth's and Elmer's 57 married years were shared in Helper. Ruth passed away June 27, 2008.

Elmer was a devout Christian and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He worked in the coal mines of Carbon County and was a member of the UMWA. Later worked for Utah Power & Light at the Carbon, Huntington, and Hunter power plants, where he retired as the assistant superintendent.

Elmer loved spending time with his family.

He enjoyed camping, fly fishing, hunting, wood working, winters in Arizona, family gatherings and, most of all, traveling with his wife.

He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Survived by daughter, Sherri (Steve) Henderson, Battle Ground, Wash.; sons, Scott (Sue) Heino and Bob (Jaylene) Heino, both of Price; brother, Max (Jean) Heino, Helper; grandchildren, Cristen, Ryan, Sky, Seth, Scott, Joshua, Jessica, Ashley, Justin, Brittney, Jeremy and Shaylee. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth; parents; and brother, Paul Heino.

Funeral service Saturday, Dec.13, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
