The Carbon Dinos kicked off the week with a 64-56 win over Park City on Wednesday Dec. 17. And bounced back with another win on Dec. 19 as the Dinos took on the Thunder from Desert Hills and rolled over them with a 55-36 victory.

Wednesday night, the Dinos got up on the Park City Miners by six in the first quarter. Strong defense never let the Miners take control of the game as Carbon continued to score. The Dinos led by nine at the half.

The second half of play was evenly matched as the Dino intensity never let up. There would be no "bad quarter" for the Dinos in this game. Carbon kept their offense consistent throughout the game and averaged 16 points a quarter to end up with an eight point victory over the Miners.

Joey Keller drove the Dino offense with 19 points. Dayton Martindale stepped up and scored 15. For Coach Bianco, it was the team effort that was key to the win.

At home on Friday night, Carbon scored first against the Thunder and never looked back. Another strong defensive stand forced turnovers and bad shots from the opponents and let Carbon take the early lead. The D of the Dinos in the second quarter held Desert Hills to a mere seven points.

Carbon's confidence was evident as they controlled the tempo of the game. In the fourth quarter the play was much more physical on both sides of the court and the scoring slowed down a bit. But in the end it didn't matter as the Dinos finished off the game with a nine point advantage and some court time for the bench. A jubilant team headed to the locker room to celebrate.

Keller and Tysen Stevens ruled the offense with Keller posting 15 and Stevens hitting for 12.

"Both of these wins have been a great defensive effort from the team. Our defense has stepped up and is playing well," remarked Bianco after the game. "This team is playing great together. I give all the credit to the kids. They faced two good teams and played the way the game should be played. This group of kids is great to work with. I am having more fun coaching this season than I ever have and I've been doing this for nine years now."

The Dinos sail into the Christmas break on a two game winning steak. They will put it to the test on Jan. 2 against Canyonview in a home game at 7 p.m which will be part of a double header that has the Lady Dinos facing Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. in the main gym.
