Carbon Rec. to start wrestling
Carbon County Recreation is taking registrations for their upcoming youth wrestling season. The program will begin on Jan. 8 and will run Thursdays at Carbon High School from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The fee is $35 dollars. The fee does not include any sanctioning fees for any organization nor does it include any fees for tournaments. The fee is for practice time only. Each child who registers will receive a wrestling singlet and a hooded sweat top. For an additional eight dollars the participant can order sweat pants as well.
The youth wrestling program is a unique one for Carbon County Recreation. With the exception of the recreation office's administrative staff, which provide organizing and oversight, the program is run entirely by volunteers. The coaches are Scott Crider and Brock Fausett. There are many other fathers and some mothers assisting as well. None of the men and women receive any compensation for their help with the program. Without their help the program could not be as successful as it is. Nor could they provide the service that they provide for the current fee. More volunteers are needed, so if you are interested in helping let one of the coaches know.
Wrestling is alive and well in Carbon County. If your child is interested in giving the program a try register them today. For more information give Carbon County Recreation a call at 636-3702.
