On Saturday the Carbon divers did their level best to hit the water smooth as they conducted their annual invitational qualifying diving meet.

According to coach Stew Foster, the Carbon boys did very well. Nick Torres placed second with 13 points keeping him from first place.

"Nick did well on most of his dives," said Foster. But over rotated on a back double and reverse double somersaults."

Sammy Manarite placed fourth with his highest score this year. Manarite also over rotated on his back double somersault, said Foster, along with his simple forward dive.

"Manarite has great possibilities if he gets more consistent with his dives," said Foster.

Kaleb Kulow placed eighth at the competition. He had one failed dive and some low scores on basic dives, said Foster.

Colin Fleck finished in ninth place which gave him the last trophy in the competition.

Florian Robbe placed 10th and Jeremy Fisher in his first 11th dive competition finished 11th, one point behind Robbe.

"Jeremy also did not have a failed dive, which is great for his first 11 dive meet," said the Carbon coach.

In the girl's competition, Lacey Pugliese placed first in the six dive category. Karissa Nelson placed second in her first dive competition and Trevyn Hepworth was fourth with Brenn Hunt finishing in fifth place.

"The boys were missing six of their dives and still managed to outpoint the competition," concluded Foster.
