Carbon swimmers blast their way into Cedar City

On November seventh and eighth the Carbon swim team traveled to Cedar City for an Invitational with only half the team traveling because of conflicting activities.

The first day had the team leading off with the 200 freestyle. Megan Barnett took off 20 seconds off her time. Jed Prettyman also did extremly well taking off 18 seconds from his best.

In the 50 freestyle the squad also had great times. Katie Torres, who just started swimming this year, took off 19 seconds since her last meet on October 29th. Another new swimmer this year, Heather Bone, had an impressive swim taking off 13 seconds since her last meet. Kim Callaway took three seconds off her time as well. Thomas Nielson, Brandon Gibson,and Kyle Hickenswan posted their best times of the season.

Brett Davis also swam his best time in the 50 even though he missed the wall and had to go back.

On the second day the swimmers were only able to swim one event so that they could get back for Pref. Every Carbon swimmer bettered their time in the 100 Free. Katie Torres knocked off 15 seconds and Heather Bone blasted off 16 seconds. Kim Callaway shaved six seconds, while Megan Barnett took off four seconds. Also posting best times were Aysha Black, Jill Malone and Jill Fincher.

The boys also had impressive swims in the 100 free. New personal bests were set by Toby Prettyman, Jed Prettyman, Ryan Slane, Talmage, Nielson, Kyle Hicken, and Brett Davis.

Coack Kamara Davis summed up the outing, " I am really impressed at how well the kids are swimming every meet they are improving their times."

Carbon's next meet is Nov. 14 at home.
