The Carbon High swim team had a duel meet with Uintah on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The teams were evenly matched in numbers and that led to a great meet. The Carbon boys won 90-78. The Carbon girls lost a close race by a single point, 75-74, with the win going to Uintah.

In the first event of the meet, the girls 200 yard individual medley, Uintah came out strong, winning the race. Carbon took second, third, and fourth, coming out of the race ahead in points. The boys 200 I.M. had same results and again Carbon ended up with more points.

In the girl's 50 free, Dino Erica Perkins took first winning by 2.5 seconds. That is a big margin for a 50 free and puts her as one of the top 50 for 3A in the state. The boy's 50 free saw Terrence Henrie dominate with a time of 26.94. He is now ranked 22nd in 3A. Kyle Hicken took home 3rd in the 50 free.

Megan Garff took first in the 100 butterfly. Dallen Garvin took first in the 100 butterfly. He took nine seconds off his time from last year ranking him 21st. Randy Slane also dropped his time and came away with third.

In the girl's 100 freestyle Jill Fincher took second. In the boy's 100 free Carbon's Henrie was first and Kyle Hicken finished second.

In the 500 hundred free Jill Malone took second taking 19 seconds off her time . Perkins took fourth shaving 10 seconds off her best.

The race of the night was the boy's 500 free. From start to finish Carbon swimmer Ryan Slane and Uintah's Dalton Agustus were neck and neck. The crowd noise was tremendous, everyone on their feet. Slane edged out Agustus 6:45.12 to 6:46.48.

Carbon went on to win both the girl's and boy's 200 free relays. In the100 backstroke Megan Barnett took first beating her best time and also making the top 50 list at 26th. Jenae Wilhemi took 3rd as she acheived her best time. She made the top 50 list for the first time at number 49.

The Boy's 100 breaststoke was another great race. Carbon's Brett Davis took second, Nick Torres took third and Jed Prettyman took fourth. The time between first and fourth were only three seconds apart.

"This was a great meet for the swimmers and we had several best times," remarked Coach Kamra Davis, "I am impressed at how well my team is doing this year so far and we are getting better every meet."

The Carbon swim team's next home meet will be Nov. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the Price City pool.
