Letter to the editor: Good for the BLM
In August, 2.5 million acres of land was released by the Bureau of Land Management for multiple use, including drilling for gas and oil.
It shows that the people who make these decisions at the BLM are intelligent and free thinking. They look at what will help the economy, the citizens of Carbon and Emery counties and all citizens of the state of Utah.
This ability to drill on these lands is what this country needs.
The drilling for gas near Nine Mile Canyon is not damaging the Indian writings. Mother natures natural activities of rain, snow and wind will always be there to dust off the writings.
In fact I think it would be a good idea to arrange to have the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts make a work project of cleaning the writings as part of their work and learning projects.
