EAST CARBON - William Lee "Mick" Dickson passed away at home Oct. 22, 2008.

Mick was born June 29, 1940 in Georgetown, Ill., to Orren (Mike) and Edith Dickson. On Aug. 31, 1991, he married Karen Baldwin and was with her until his death.

In 1945, Mick's father was recruited by U.S. Steel to work in the coal mine at Horse Canyon so the family migrated to Utah. They loved Utah and stayed.

Mick loved the outdoors and spent as much time there as he could. He loved exploring, hunting, fishing and riding.

When he was very young, he loved trapping.

Mick loved sports and was a devoted New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan. He played baseball as a youth.

He was a graduate of Carbon High.

Mick worked for U.S. Steel until 1983, when he went to work for Valley Camp coal mine. For the last years of his life, he worked for the city of East Carbon, a city he loved and never wanted to leave.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of East Carbon; his four daughters from a previous marriage with Glenna Gilson, Miki (Clint) McInelly, Valerie Dickson, Paula (Kenny) Vigil and Leslie (Tanner) Dickson-Christensen, all of Price; two stepsons, Shane Baldwin and Troy (Denise) Baldwin; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; a sister, Joni (Tony) Parrish; and two nieces of Salt Lake City.

Mick was a mighty man and everyone who knew him respected him. He will be missed.

Funeral services are pending.
