Golf tournament generates revenues for fire departments in Carbon County

Price Assistant Fire Chief Frank Peczuh, Wellington Fire Chief Sam Espinoza, Helper Fire Chief Mike Zamantakis, and Sunnyside Fire Chief Gene Madrid are awarded a giant check for $4,927 by Charles McManus, community editor of the Sun Advocate as publisher Richard Shaw stands by.

The check, which represents money that will be equally divided between all the fire departments in Carbon County, was generated by the "Fire in the Hole" golf tournament held on Oct. 11 at the Carbon Country Club.

All the departments in the county are volunteer organizations and funding for many kinds of equipment and apparel come from sources not connected to the cities which they serve.

The Sun Advocate plans on making this tournament an annual event, and it will take place each year during National Fire Fighters Week in October.
