The cross country team competed at the Mt. Nebo invitational on Sept. 26. The boys team ran strong with freshman Justin Hepworth leading the carbon boys pack with an overall finish in a time of 18:30 and 23rd place over all. Jordan Tatton and Kaleb Kulow ran 2nd and 3rd for the team both running under 19:00. The boys took 7th as a team in the JV race edging out our closest region competitors, Emery by only three points, 214-217.
Patricia Smith had a great performance. She ran the varsity race and was amongst some of the toughest in the state once again. She placed fourth overall with a time of 19:19, a personal best for her this season.
The cross country team also competed on Wednesday Oct 1 at North Sanpetes invitational. The boys continued to hold off Emery this time only by four points. The course was held on the Skyline Mountain Resort golf course near Fairview. Jordan Tatton finished strong with a fifth place overall finish, Kaleb Kulow in ninth and Justin Hepworth in 10th. Nathan Hepworth finished forth for the team and Kaleb Kulow, Luke Olsen and Carson Tatton ran tight and secured the few points the team needed in the end. Skylar Larsen, Derek Quinton and Brenden Hepworth also ran well for our team, and continue to improve and push our tight seven. Patricia did not attend this meet. Karissa Nelson and Kenzie Mantz respresented Carbon and both had strong finishes. The team will travel to Juan Diego for a pre-region meet on the 8th of October.
