PRICE - Donald Allen Smith, age 76, died Sept. 30, 2008 in Price.
He was born Jan. 16, 1932 in Price to Clarence and Nellie Prettyman Smith. Married Donna Jean Blackburn on Feb. 3, 1950 in Grand Junction, Colo.; she passed away on Sept. 22, 1999. On Feb. 15, 2007, Don married Katherine Saiz in Price.
Donald was a lifelong resident of Carbon County, where he was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Donald was a hardworking man and a friend to all who knew him.
He enjoyed the outdoors.
Donald will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Smith, Price; one son, Larry (Lynda) Smith, Castle Dale; three daughters, Diana M. Wood, Price; Karen Wood (Jim Bartorelli), Price; and Joy (Kelley) Reynolds, Elko, Nev.; stepsons, James (Heather) Guerra, Kearns; and Preston (Brandy) Garner, Killeen, Texas; one sister, Carol (Bill) Leverton, Hurricane; father-in-law, Frank Jensen, Ferron; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 49 years, Donna Smith; an infant son; granddaughter, Sheradawn Smith; three brothers and two sisters.
At Don's request, no public services were conducted. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
