Rabbits run over Dinos in region

The Delta Rabbits came into town and showed Carbon why they are ranked number three in 3A football. They dominated the game and took down Carbon 54-0 in region action Friday night.

There were not many highlights for the Carbon Dinos as they were over matched by the stronger team. Even though Delta was pretty confident about their game, they surprised Carbon with an onside kick early in the competition and set the tone they would do anything to win the game.

But no matter, Coach Leo Paur emphasized that he is not down on his team. "This is the best team we have faced and no other team has scored on them yet either. We did some good things even though they scored at will on us. We implemented a new shift on our defense and they limited Delta to only six punts."

Paur went on to compliment the play of Lance Deeter in the game. He also pointed out that even though he has complained a bit about not being able to win with a line up of sophomores, they are playing great and by next year or the year after will take the team to levels they haven't seen in a while. He is seeing great things already from the likes of David Fonnesbeck, David Scoggins and Hank Perry.

Paur cut three players from the team last week, including a pair who didn't show up for practice. He is encouraging his squad to be active in other sports through the winter and spring. For those who are a one sport athlete he will really encourage them to hit the weight room and build up.

"That is what you see in winning programs like Delta has, those kids even have muscles in their ears. They are a football town and it shows in the athletes that take the field."

The Dinos will travel to Salem Hills for another region match-up this Friday. They then have to go into the Soaring Eagle nest and take on highly ranked Juan Diego in two weeks. Carbon will finish up at home on October 24th against North Sanpete.
