Price Police Chief Alec Shilaos talks with an officer while another inspects a train car after an east bound Union Pacific freight train hit a pedestrian on the tracks near 400 East and 400 South. Emergency crews raced to the railroad crossing at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning after a report came in that someone had been hit by the locomotive. The situation was confirmed when the crews arrived and found the body of Sean Dewayne Bath, 40, under a train car a couple of hundred yards behind the engines. The train, which stopped after the incident, was blocking traffic across all the intersections in Price from Carbon Avenue to 400 East for two hours as the Price police, the Utah Highway Patrol and the Carbon County sheriff's office investigated the accident. According to Shilaos, Bath was apparently trying to cross the tracks at an out of the way area and somehow missed seeing the train. The engineer applied the brakes when he saw the man crossing, but could not stop in time.
