The Dinos paid Juan Diego a visit on Thursday. The Soaring Eagles are the top seeded team in 3A and have the top seeded girl in the entire state.

The Dinos dropped their match, but gained valuable experience that they need to build into the future.

Coach Tom Alleman is happy with the improvements he is seeing at each match. "They hold their own," he explained. He is seeing the most improvements in his doubles teams. The single players are coming along, but his two teams of doubles are really finding their stride.

Having a small squad of nine is working to the team's advantage in this first season. Carbon matched up against teams with 20 or more so each player or team gets several matches each time they take on another squad.

Wins are not the ultimate goal this year, it is the experience and the chance to bring the level of the team into the same level of the other squads in the region.

For Alleman, the need for more girls to take an interest in tennis at an early age is the key to a successful high school program. He encourages the girls to take advantage of the Carbon Rec lessons and tennis tournament each summer. In the end he is looking long term and hope to see a resurgence on interest in tennis in the Carbon area. "We have such nice courts here and we need to take advantage of them," he concluded.

North Sanpete will sail into Carbon this Tuesday, with matches beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Price City tennis courts on 300 East.
