Fire on Reservation Ridge started by lightning

Smoke from a fire on Reservation Ridge was visible from Highway 6 between Scofield Junction and Soldier Summit on Saturday afternoon.

The fire, which apparently was started by lightening last week, is in an area that was scheduled for a prescribed burn somewhere in the future, so the U.S. Forest Service is letting it burn but monitoriing it closely.

Travel on roads and highways in the area has not been affected by the blaze.
