PLEASANT GROVE - Alexander Reifschneider, 87 of Pleasant Grove, passed away on June 30, 2008.
He was born Oct. 11, 1920 in Las Animas, Colo., to Andrew and Kathryn Hammel Reifschneider, immigrants from Longenfelt, Russia. He was the12th of 13 children.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and, while stationed in Salt Lake City, he met Juanita "Jean" Amador. They were married on Feb. 9, 1942.
After his discharge, Al and Jean eventually settled in Dragerton, enjoying raising their son and caring for Jean's parents. When they moved to the Orem area, Al and Jean soon followed, leaving many good friends and memories in the Carbon County area.
Al worked 22 years in the Columbia coal mine and then Geneva Steel for eight years, where he retired.
They bought a home in Pleasant Grove.
He enjoyed his home, family, many good neighbors and working on his many talents and hobbies with his son, LeRoy.
Al is survived by his son, LeRoy, who currently resides at Heritage Care Center, American Fork; his sisters, Penny (Don) Barrett and Gloria Peterson, both of Salinas, Calif.; brother-in-law, Leo Amador, Orem; sisters-in-law, Isabel (Edward) Trujillo, Magna; and Mille Gren, Orem. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and nine siblings.
Funeral services were Monday, July 7, at Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove. Interment was in the Orem City Cemetery, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 72.
