Struggling HAL gets needed rest
Closing in on the midway point of the season, the Helper American Legion team is sputtering. After a long weekend of games in their tournament, the team ended up dropping both contests last week.
On Monday, June 30 they lost to Cyprus by the score of 8-1. Then Taylorsville rolled into town on July 2 and beat them up 18-0.
With few highlights to talk about, Coach Cisneros just summed things up this way, "we are really struggling right now. Our defense has been terrible and our offense is non existent. I think the tough schedule has caught up to some of the guys who are not acustom to playing this many games. I only have five or six guys on this roster that have been a part of legion ball before so I think the rest are a little tired right now. Next week is a very important week with five league games."
The team will be off until Monday July 7 when they travel to Granger. On Tuesday they will be at home for a game against Tooele.
The Tuesday game will start at 5:30 p.m. and not at their usual 7 p.m. time.
On Wednesday, Helper travels to Ken Price park for an 8 p.m. battle with with the Spartans. By Friday, the team returns home for a double- header with Hunter at home with games starting at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
