When the votes were tallied at the June 24 Carbon primary, John Jones stood victorious in the Democratic county commissioner race.

Garnering 54.92 percent of the 2,183 total votes, Jones will face Republican Gerald Lloyd in the commission election in November. In the Utah District 69 House of Representatives race, Christine Watkins will move on as the Democratic candidate in the general election. She defeated Grady McEvoy by receiving 65.17 percent of the total ballots cast in Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan and Wayne counties.

Watkins also carried the Carbon Democratic primary, winning 62.78 percent of the vote.
