Desert Thunder races back

On Friday the 13th the earth rumbled in Carbon County as Desert Thunder Raceway came to life with the sound of roaring engines. And although the day is historically known as the bringer of bad luck to some, it proved to be a day of joy for NASCAR driver Dale Earnhart Jr. as well as the following local drivers:

•Modifieds, Ricky Alvarado, Ryan Dimick and Chase Hansen.

•Pure stocks, Dale Smith, Scott Bradford and Troy Sweeten.

•Trucks, Jeremy Robison, Robert Conner and Zeph Tucker.

•Street stocks, David O'Brien, Todd Oldham and Dave Dornan.

•Mini stocks, Duglus Peterson, Adam Martinez and Glade Longmore.

Sport modified, Hubert Wilson and Dale Smith.

Racing continued on Saturday the 14th with these daring souls taking the track to the limit:

•Modifieds, Ricky Alvarodo, Corey Simoneau and Rick Spangler.

•Pure stocks, Dale Smith, Jeremy Birch and Scott Bradford.

•Trucks, Robert Conner, Zeph Tucker and Dick Godin,

•Street stocks, David O'Brien and Todd Oldham.

•Mini stocks, Duglus Peterson, Terence Pine and Adam Martinez.

•Sport modified, Hubert Wilson, Gauge Smith and Dale Smith.

Mini Sprints, Scott Hardman, Barry Rupp and Nick Cummings.

As for the miniature speed demons in the Go Karts the results were as follows:

•Lower division, Jayden Thomas, Zach Hubbard and Austin Phillips.

•Pro division, Wyatt Howard, Brayden Brockmeyer and Phillip Oliver.
