DWR biologist hosting a bighorn sheep watch in Sunnyside this weekend

Wildlife lovers have a great opportunity this weekend to observe and snap some shots of a herd of bighorn sheep without having to travel too far from home.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is a hosting bighorn sheep watch Saturday, June 14 and will have biologists on site to locate the animals and answer questions. The Sunnyside herd is made up almost completely of rams and the numbers range from 25 to 40 depending on the day and year.

The watch starts at 3 p.m. and runs to 8 p.m. Call 613-3707 for more information.

CEU Prehistoric Museum gets some new residents in Mesozoic Garden's exhibit

More than 200 people showed up to welcome two soft-shelled turtles and an alligator to Price last week during Jurassic Week.

The new exhibit is designed to give a glimpse into what the complete Mesozoic Garden planned for site near the fairgrounds could offer. Both the alligator and the turtles' ancestors were around with dinosaurs. In addition to the reptiles, the garden will feature a variety of living fossil plants. The museum is already housing taraucaria or Monkey Puzzle trees.

The reptiles and living fossils can be seen daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the CEU Prehistoric Museum.

Carbon County residents are invited to attend a night with the candidates

Several candidates on the June 24 primary elections will be on- hand to answers questions Monday, June 16, at the courthouse.

"Meet the Candidates" night will provide voters with a chance to learn more about John Jones and Neil Breinholt, who are running for a two-year spot on the county commission; Christine Watkins and Grady McEvoy, who are both vying for the Utah House of Representative - District 69 position and Richard Ellis and Mark Walker whose hats are in the ring for Utah State Treasurer.

The event runs 5:30.to 8:30 p.m., June 24, in the Carbon County Commissioners Chambers.
