Local athletes compete in world volleyball tournament

Carbon High students Brittani Bentley, Monica Shorts, and Traci Mortensen returned home from the International Volleyball Association World Tournament Volleyball Classic which was held in Park City. The girls are part of the local club volleyball association and participated in the tryouts for the world tourney last January. The girls were able to compete against teams from all over the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The girls along with their team competed in the championship bracket in Park City against a team from Arizona. Bentley played the outside hitter position, Shorts the defensive specialist, and Mortensen played the middle position in the tourney which the team captured second place.
