Delta hops over Lady Dinos
Another game just out of reach of the Lady Dinos as they go 0-3 in region play. In a batters game with both teams racking up 14 hits, it was Delta who came out on top 10-8 on Thursday in Delta.
Carbon scored twice in the first, but allowed Delta to send three across to take the lead. The Dinos tied it in the third and then went ahead in the fourth before again allowing the Rabbits to edge ahead. Carbon tied it back up and then could not hold on to it.
The Dinos grabbed the lead back again in the sixth, but a misplayed ball that could have been a double play, instead left the door open for Delta to steal the win.
Coach Pinedo was disappointed. "I take responsibility for not getting the girls mentally prepared and focused at the beginning of the game," he said. "It is encouraging we are in these games until the end, but we have lost three games by only five total points and we have just not been focused. We had five errors in the game. The best thing I can say is at least these are road losses."
He is encouraged by some good play from his defense. "Outfielder, Whitney Oliver threw out a runner trying to score and catcher, Whitney Williams continues to pick off runners on the base pads." The offense remains a force. Against the Rabbits, every starter had at least one hit.
The Dinos get to come home for three games. Unfortunately those games will test the Dinos with everything they have. First up will be powerhouse, Juan Diego on Thursday, April 10th. Game time will be at 3:30 p.m. on the Carbon softball field. The following week, rival Emery will roll into town for a pair with first pitch at 2:30 p.m..
