Lady Eagles drop a pair to Northern Idaho in weekend play

With the regular season drawing to a close, time is running out for the CEU Lady Eagles to move up from the fifth seed in the SWAC that they have occupied for a couple of years now. Losing a pair to Northern Idaho over the weekend did not help their cause. On Friday they dropped a game they were in most of the way by the score of 61-70. On Saturday, they had a tougher time and lost 47-66 to the Cardinals.
On Friday night CEU found themselves down by 11 at the break. They came out at the half and battled their way back into the game. Despite making several good runs at the Cardinals and pulling the game close, in the end they faded and the more powerful team prevailed.
In the Saturday rematch, the Eagles were only down seven at the break. It was the second half of play where the Cardinal put it away for good. The Eagles only shot 31 percent and that just won't get the job done against teams like NIC.
Erin Richardson was the only Eagle to hit double scoring with 12. Brandi King added nine. Maquette Potts led the rebounding effort with a mere four as the Cardinals dominated the boards with second and third chances while limiting the Eagles to a single shot.
The Eagles still have a shot at moving into the fourth slot before the SWAC tournament if they can take care of business in Ephraim against Snow this weekend. CEU sits at 3-8 in conference play and Snow is at 4-7. The teams will go head to head for a pair this weekend. CEU will finish up SWAC action against SLCC the following weekend.
