Last Saturday while his women's basketball team was beating up on CNCC in the BDAC, Coach Dave Paur was noticeably absent from the bench. Instead of guiding his team to their first win after the Christmas break, he was down at Southern Utah University being inducted into the Coaching Factory Hall of fame.

SUU has prided itself in being one of the top coaching producers in the nation. They have graduated more coaches who have gone on to take a team to state, regional and national titles than BYU Weber and the U combined. Forty percent of all high school football coaches in the region have credentials from SUU coach's college.

Eight years ago when they dedicated their new athletic complex they began a Coaches Hall of fame.

Two SUU alumni are inducted into the hall every year. Coach Paur was the 15th coach to be inducted since the program began.

Paur started his coaching career 33 years ago at North Layton Junior High.

After two years he headed west to coach at Chowchilla High for three seasons. Kings River Community College was next, followed by another stint at Chowchilla.

He came to CEU 19 years ago and coached baseball and women's basketball. He has been at home here ever since.

Paur has yet to win a state or conference title, but he admits that there is still time. "I figure I have about seven years left to accomplish that goal," he admitted during a recent interview.

In the present era of coaching, there are few coaches who can look at the longevity and tenure Paur is experiencing at this point in his career.
