Rangeland monitoring workshop - is scheduled Feb. 20, Feb. 21 and Feb. 22 for livestock producers.

Registration deadline is Feb. 6. Fee is required.

Adult drivers education class - Carbon School District will offer an adult drivers education class starting Jan. 28.

The class will include 10 three-hour sessions.

Participants must obtain learners permits from the drivers license division and register at Carbon High's main office prior to Jan. 28. Learner's permit and class registration fees are required.

Food handlers classes - Two-hour sessions are scheduled Feb. 12 and March 4 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah Health District in Price. Classes will be taught Feb. 21 and March 27 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the public health department in Castle Dale.

Test fees are required. For information, contact Claron Bjork at 637-3671.

Lead testing - Department of environmental quality representatives will test toys, jewelry, pottery, clothing and furniture for lead contaminants Feb. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the convention center at the county fairgrounds.

Limit is five items per person.

Immunization clinic hours - Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Women's cancer screening - Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms.

For information, local residents may call the public health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.

Head Start - The free preschool program accepts qualified children ages 3 to 5 years old.

Residents may submit applications at the Price office, 745 East 200 South, or the Wellington office, 150 West Main.

For information, Carbon County residents may contact the Price office at 613-8494.

Free legal clinics - Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price.

Residents should bring all pertinent documents pertaining to legal questions. For information, residents may contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.

Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carbon County RSVP - Residents who would like to lend a helping hand or need the assistance of volunteers may contact the Price RSVP program at 637-9118 or call the East Carbon office.

Carbon County Family Support and Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old.

The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.

Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

The center is also collecting donations for displaced families. Furniture items will be accepted only if the center has families in need. For information, call the center at 637-0281.

Child care resource and referral - For information on reserving a spot at upcoming child care provider orientation classes, local residents may contact Avis Burrows at 636-2355.

Applications for startup grants are available at the office at CEU.

Cell phones for seniors - are available at Carbon County RSVP. The program provides cell phones that dial 911 in emergencies at no cost to participants. For information, seniors may call the RSVP office at 637-9118.

Price library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and closed Sunday.

Story time is scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m.

English as a second language classes are Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. Basic literacy classes are scheduled as needed.

Helper library - Hours are Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m.; Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The library offers Internet accessible computers and will obtain books for patrons through the inter-facility loan program.

CEU Library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Gallery East - Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Carbon Family Resource Center - Story time is Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. The free lending library open to the community includes items for children, teens, parents and grandparents.

Rape crisis hot line - Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.

Carbon County Humane Society - offers clinics the second Tuesday of the month at 5 S. Carbon Avenue, Price.

Residents may contact the society at 637-0588 to schedule clinic appointments.

Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation - is a non-profit group dedicated to the care of orphaned, injured or ill wildlife.

The group needs adult volunteers. Residents may contact Debbie Pappas at 650-3441 for information.

Price Main Street program - The board meets the first Wednesday of the month at noon in room 207 of Price City Hall.

Helper community development committee - meets Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the civic auditorium.

Castle Country Habitat for Humanity - is accepting applications for homes from eligible candidates.

Recovery classes - are scheduled Monday to Friday at the Golden Rule Mission in Helper from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Classes include relapse prevention, Big Book, 12 steps, traditions, spirituality and life skills.

Price Recovery group - meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the CEU computer building.

Reach to Recovery - The American Cancer Society program matches a diagnosed breast cancer patient with a trained survivor who can answer questions and address concerns.

MS support group- meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at Southeastern Utah Health District in Price.

Grieving parent support group - For parents who have lost a child, the group meets the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Castleview classroom.

FUTURES - The Carbon County NAMI affiliate, a support group developed for families who have children with challenges, meets the first and third Wednesday of the month.

The first Wednesday is designated as a caregiver support night. The third Wednesday is family activity night.

Scooter & Wheelchair Users ADA support group - meets the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the Carbon County Housing Authority.

The housing authority is located at 251 S. 1600 East, Price.

Domestic violence support groups - are scheduled weekly.

Services include testing, verification, referrals to community resources and counseling.

Look Good, Feel Better - The American Cancer Society program helps women address the appearance related side effects of treatment.

The members of the group meet the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Castleview Hospital.

Cancer resource center - Volunteers are needed to staff the American Cancer Society information center at Castleview Hospital.

Hours are flexible and training will be provided free of charge to local volunteers.

Teen parenting class - is scheduled Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse.

Thirty-six hours will equal one elective credit.

Shrove Tuesday pancake supper - will be served Feb. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ascension St. Matthew's, 522 N. Homestead Boulevard, Price. Donations accepted.

Lenten lunches - will be served from noon until 12:30 p.m. at Price United Methodist Church for five weeks starting on Ash Wednesday. Free will offerings will be accepted. Guest speakers will be featured from 12:30 to 12:45 p.m. following the lunches. The schedule includes:
