Bennett continues to push WDRA as U.S. Senate overrides Bush's veto 79-14

Utah communities may soon be eligible for an additional $25 million in federal assistance to help fund local water infrastructure projects, a bill passed in September and then vetoed has been overridden by the U.S. Senate. .

According to a press release by Sen. Bob Bennett the U.S. Senate voted to override the presidents veto by a vote of 79 to 14 on Monday.

The bill includes an additional $25 million in federal assistance to help fund water infrastructure. According to Bennett's office even though the bill is now law the funds will be appropriated at a later date.

Food bank requests local support for needy families this Thanksgiving

While the Carbon County Food Bank was able to collect 2,723 lbs. of food from local residents during the Trick or Treat for Food campaign on Halloween, they are still lacking a number of items for their annual Thanksgiving boxes.

The managers of the food banks say that they need stuffing, cans of cranberry, canned pineapple, canned pumpkin, fruit cocktail, cans of yams and any frozen turkeys people are willing to donate.

While the Utah Food Bank will send some turkeys down just before Thanksgiving, there will not be enough to go around if more are not donated.

Temporary Internet outage planned at Sun Advocate office on Thursday

The Sun Advocate's Internet service provider will be performing network upgrades around mid-morning on Nov. 15.

As a result, the website ( and e-mail (, for example) may be unavailable during that time. Email sent during the temporary outage may result in delayed communication. Please be patient with all electronic transfers during the previously outlined time frame.

Service should resume no later than noon on Thursday.
