Shriners Children's Hospital screenings - The free clinic is scheduled Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Castleview. For information, Carbon County residents may contact the hospital at 637-1132.

Food handlers classes - Two-hour sessions are scheduled Oct. 30, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah Health District in Price. Classes will be taught Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health district in Castle Dale. Test fees are required. For information, contact Claron Bjork at 637-3671.

Cystic fibrosis walk - The fundraising activity is planned Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. until noon at Carbon High's indoor track. Breakfast will start at 8:30 a.m. For information or to donate to the cause, contact CEU's nursing department at 613-5262.

Peter Goss photo exhibition - will be displayed Oct. 24 through Nov. 30 at the Museum of the San Rafael. A reception is slated Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. For information, contact the museum at 435-381-5252.

Immunization clinic hours - Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Women's cancer screening - Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms.For information, call the health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.

Free legal clinics - Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price. Residents should bring pertinent documents pertaining to legal questions. For information, residents may contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.

Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter.Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carbon County RSVP - Residents who would like to volunteer or need assistance may contact the Price RSVP program at 637-9118 or call the East Carbon office.

Carbon County Family Support and Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, A/Narcotic Anonymous meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the center at 637-0281.

Price library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and closed Sunday.

Story time is scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. There will be no story hours on Oct. 31. Children's Halloween parties are planned Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. for toddlers and Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. for older youngsters. English as a second language classes are Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. Basic literacy classes are scheduled as needed.For information, contact the library at 636-3188.

Support Groups

Recovery Halloween party - The 12-step party and dinner will be presented Oct. 20 at the Alano Club, 1267 Carbonville Road.

The schedule of activities include:

Dinner, 6 to 7 p.m.

Kids treats, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Costume contest, 7 to 8 p.m.

Main speaker, 8 to 9 p.m.

Prize drawing, 9 to 9:30 p.m.

Games, music and movies, 9:30 p.m. until midnight.

Adults are encouraged to bring candy and prize drawing donations will be appreciated.

Recovery classes - are scheduled Monday to Friday at the Golden Rule Mission in Helper from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Classes include relapse prevention, Big Book, 12 steps, traditions, spirituality and life skills. AA is 6 p.m. daily.

Price Recovery group - meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the CEU computer building.

Reach to Recovery - The American Cancer Society program matches a diagnosed breast cancer patient with a trained survivor who can answer questions and address concerns.

FUTURES - The Carbon County NAMI affiliate, a support group developed for families who have children with challenges, meets the first and third Wednesday of the month. The first Wednesday is caregiver support night. The third Wednesday is family night.

Scooter & Wheelchair Users ADA support group - meets the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the housing authority, 251 S. 1600 East, Price.

Domestic violence support groups - are scheduled weekly.

Look Good, Feel Better - The American Cancer Society program helps women address the appearance related side effects of treatment.

Cancer resource center - Volunteers are needed to staff the American Cancer Society information center at Castleview Hospital. Hours are flexible and training is free of charge. For information, contact Gail Harding at 613-1132.

Teen parenting class - is scheduled Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse. Thirty-six hours will equal one elective credit.
