Carbon golf stepped up at home on Aug. 30 and dominated their region match pulling away from second place Delta by 30 shots.

"Our team did really well," said Carbon Golf Coach Tony Pinedo.

Carbon took first with a team score of 312, the Delta Rabbits came in second at 342 and North Sanpete finished at 343, nearly taking second for themselves. Juan Diego and Emery rounded out the region competition at 348 and 367 respectively.

According to Pinedo, Jason Child was Carbon's leading golfer shooting a 76. Also showing strong for Carbon were Jordan Pinedo (78), Corbin Black (78) and Shayne Burke (80).

Pinedo explained that in 3A region golf every team sends out eight varsity golfers and then at the end of the day the teams four lowest rounds comprise the total score.

After three region competitions Carbon is sitting in first place with a 48 shot lead over Delta and a 50 shot lead over North Sanpete.

"The players are having a great year," concluded Pinedo. "And we are getting better with every match."
