Independent Order of Foresters collect funds for Carbon Rec

Carbon County Recreation Director Steve Christensen accepts a check for nearly $700 from Barbara Rowland of the Independent Order of Foresters. The funds will further the recreation department's programs. The money came from donations collected at the Tucker rest area on U.S. Highway 6 during the Memorial Day weekend. For many years, the organization has operated a snack and refreshment stop at the rest area so motorists will get out of vehicles and take a break from sitting behind the steering wheel. The project is designed to promote safety on the road. The group's members not only donate time and goodies to the project, they accept donations for charitable organizations.
