A Helper American Legion pitcher goes hard to home plate during a game played last season.

The Helper American Legion Team is having a strong year. With three more wins last week their league record is now 4-1. Playing most of the games on the road, the team is using a combination of good defense and power at the plate to keep themselves at the top of the standings. Only two teams have better records and those are Kearns and Murray with 5 wins apiece.

Monday the 18th they took on Hunter at home. Helper dominated the game and walked away with a 19-4win. The game was called after 5 innings because of the 9 run rule. Fernando Martinez pitched 3 great innings and got the win. He allowed only 1 hit and did not give up a run. Jordon Moynier came in and pitched the 4th and 5th innings allowing 4 runs in the 4th.

This week they travel back to SLC and take on Murray tonight at 8:00 pm. Murray is currently a 1/2 game ahead of Helper in the standings. The team is at home Wednesday night and Friday night.
