State parks, recreation department schedules local ATV education courses
Utah's parks and recreation department will offer all-terrain vehicle and motorcycle education courses in Carbon County on June 7 and June 16. Pre-registration is required.
State law requires children ages 8 to 16 to complete a safety class prior to operating all types of ATVs on public lands or trails.
To pre-register, Carbon County youth may call the state program toll-free at 1-800-648-7433. Students will be notified of the time and location of the courses when they complete the registration process.
Spaying or neutering cats, dogs controls population of unwanted pets in county
Now is the time for Carbon County residents to take action and arrange to have pets spayed or neutered.
Responsible pet owners assume the responsibility of not only preventing unwanted litters of cats and dogs, but avoiding unnecessary euthanization of animals.
Residents should check with local veterinarians for special offers or call the Carbon County Humane Society for spay and neuter clinic appointments. The next clinic will be June 12. Residents may contact the organization at 637-0588 for more information.
Elks Lodge, American Legion slate Flag Day ceremonies at Peace Garden
On June 14 at 4 p.m., the Price Elks Lodge will host a Flag Day Ceremony at the Peace Garden. The national event is a day for all Americans to celebrate and show respect for the United States flag.
During the ceremony at the Peace Garden, the American Legion will present the colors . At the conclusion of the event, the legion will conduct a flag retirement ceremony where flags that have run their course will be ceremoniously burned.
