The Wasatch Behind: no amnesty for congress
The American people have been betrayed - again. Congress stuck it to us in 1986 when they granted amnesty to illegal aliens the first time, and this past week they made a deal to do it again.
The 12 to 15 million (no one knows how many) illegal aliens in this country are all home free. And now they can begin the process of importing their extended family members, as many as 30 to 40 million additional foreigners, to feed at our table and partake of our hospitality. To put this in perspective, there are only about 3 million people in all of Utah. The "legal" illegals and their families will be nearly 20 times the population of our state.
But don't call it amnesty, the politicians say. Amnesty means we are forgiving their trespasses and letting them reap the rewards of their lawbreaking. Heavens no, there will be no amnesty from this president and this congress. The illegals must stand up and be counted, surrender to a background check, pay a $5000 fine, learn to speak English, and then wait for up to 12 years to be given citizenship.
Give me a break. How many do you suppose will be lining up to give Uncle Sam the five grand, or surrender to the background check? We all know that the next step in this legislative deal - after the dust of the initial outcry settles - is to wave the fine because illegals can't afford it, and not do the background checks because we don't have the manpower or resources to do them without creating a whole new government agency.
And in the meantime, the "legal" illegals can continue to be pseudo-citizens while making arrangements to get the rest of their family members safely over the border. Why would anyone ever go through the red tape and hassle of becoming a U.S. citizen legally? It is so much easier to do it illegally. We make a mockery of our own laws.
And now, we are told, at long last, congress will get serious about securing our borders, now that we have a "resolution" to the "immigration" problem. You will notice that the liberal press calls them "immigrant workers," and never "illegal aliens." There is power in words. We were told that the borders would be secured after the amnesty of 1986, too, but it never happened. Does anyone really think it will happen this time? If our politicians really wanted to secure our borders, they could do it overnight, and they would have done it long ago.
And both political parties are guilty of this amnesty fraud and for doing irreparable damage to this country. Ronald Reagan was president the first time, and George Bush is president this time - both were/are "good" Republicans. And both times, Democrats have led the charge and rammed the legislation through congress. Why? Because Democrats want Latino votes and Republicans want cheap labor. Both parties have dirty hands and dirty hearts on this matter. A pox on both of their houses.
Any politician who supports this scam, and who fails to secure our borders, or has heretofore failed to secure our borders, deserves neither our support nor our votes, ever again. And I'm talking about our own Utah congressional delegation as well.
It is time we got rid of both major political parties and replaced them with a party that truly looks to the needs of this nation and its people. Republicans and Democrats are locked in a game of political brinkmanship that threatens to destroy our nation and way of life, and it gets worse every year. Nothing matters to these people but winning elections.
Our country is starved for real leadership and common sense in government. The fact that a little weasel like Ross Perot could get 20-percent of the national vote and almost 30-percent of all Utah votes in 1992, demonstrates that fact very clearly. And yes, I was desperate enough to vote for the guy, way back then.
Our people desperately want, and deserve, a real change in our political future. Illegal aliens got their amnesty, but I don't think congress should. And I mean both sides of the isle; Republicans and Democrats, elephants and jackasses.
Lets throw the bums out!
