David Espinoza

EAST CARBON/PORTLAND, Ore. - David Abe Espinoza, age 60, succumbed to lung cancer on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in Portland, Ore.

He was born in Montrose, Colo., Dec. 13, 1946 to Mary and Eloy Espinoza.

David grew up in East Carbon and Wellington. He was an avid reader and kept up with world news and politics. His favorite sport was basketball; his favorite team was the Portland Trail Blazers.

David loved fishing and hunting. His favorite places were Scofield and Canada. We would always expect fresh salmon when he would visit. He was also a lover of animals; he raised cows, sheep, pigs and dogs on his farm in Estacada, Ore.

David was a member of the Teamsters Unon for 37 years and retired from Consolidated Freight after 28 years.

May he rest in peace.

He is survived by wife, Sharon; daughter, Starlene; stepdaughter, Vicky; four grandsons that he raised, Joaquin, Santos, Lucio and Domingo, all of Estacada, Ore.; mother, Mary Espinoza of Wellington; brothers, Gary and Johnny of Price; Sam (Pat) of Wellington; Marty of Salt Lake City; Joseph (Lori) of Albuquerque, N.M.; Anthony (Karen) of Angel Fire, N.M.; Raymond of Alpine, Calif. and one sister, Frances (John) Escandon of Chula Vista, Calif. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by father, Eloy; and brother, Jesse.

At his request, there will be no services and cremation has been performed. His ashes will be scattered in the mountains near Estacada where he enjoyed the rivers of Mt. Hood, Ore.

Melba Benson

BOUNTIFUL - Melba Lee Clark Benson passed away April 3, 2007 in Bountiful.

Born Jan. 31, 1939 in Oklahoma to Herman and Hazel Clark.

Survived by son, Gary Blackburn of Salt Lake City; granddaughter, Cherrie Montiel of Layton; great-grandson, Colin; brothers and sisters, Earl Clark of East Carbon; Faye (Bud) Mager of Price; and Frank (Pat) Modes of Price. Preceded in death by parents; brother and sister; and son, Robert Boyd Blackburn.

Burial, Wellington City Cemetery.

Antonette Salevurakis

PRICE- Antonette Kournianakis Salevurakis, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2007.

Born on Jan. 16, 1921 in the coal town of Mohrland to Emmanuel and Despina (Spadithakis) Kournianakis.

Antonette would leave America for Greece in 1925 and remain in the village of Malaxa, Crete, until the age of 16. After returning to America and reuniting with her parents and siblings, Antonette married Manos Salevurakis on Jan. 28, 1945. The couple had a son, John Manos Salevurakis and was also blessed with a daughter, Charlotte Salevurakis.

Antonette serves as a role model for both her immediate and extended families and will always be held in the highest regard by all who love her. Her determination against adversity and calm strength in the face of both joy and tragedy strongly influenced the character and actions of those around her. We can only pray that we live up to her expectations of us.

"May her memory be eternal."

She is survived by daughter, Charlotte Salevurakis; grandson, John W. Salevurakis; daughter-in-law, Billie Salevurakis; brother, Tony (Kay) Kournianos; and sister-in-law, Mary Kourianos. Many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends also deeply mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by husband, Manos; sons, John and Nicky; parents; sisters, Helen Manousakis, Mary Katsavrias, and Angelina Pace; and brother, Mike Kourianos.

Funeral service, Tuesday, April 10, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. Trisagion service, Monday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchel's Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
