Tammy Harwood beats the tag as she slides into third. Harwood hit a double off of Park City as the Dinos downed Park City 16-3 on Friday.

Scores like 16-3 were something the Lady Dinos saw a lot of last season. But the nice thing is this year they were on the winning side of the lopsided score and they loved it. They downed Park City in convincing fashion and got to get out of the drizzle that plagued the entire game after just five innings.

Paige Pinedo took the mound for the Dinos. She stopped a first inning scoring threat by Park City and the team came into the dugout ready to put some points on the board. They moved two across the plate to take the lead.

Buoyed with confidence that goes with having a lead, they again showed good defense and shutout Park City for another inning. As the rain hit a bit harder, the bats came alive for Carbon, and seven runs were added before the inning ended. Park City scored their first two runs of the game to cut the lead back to seven, but the Dinos were not finished. They added six more of their own to move the lead to 15-2.

Park City again went down without scoring and Carbon put the icing on the cake with one more. Park City had one chance to stay in the game. They needed to score at least four to keep the game going, but all they could manage is one. Tammy Harwood and Kayla Robinson each poked a double as Carbon made the most of their seven hits to score 16 runs.

Carbon is now 2-5 on the season. Pinedo commented on the changes he saw in the girls since the beginning of the season. "Even though we didn't win many, the tournament was good for us; we made some big improvements in our play. They are showing more patience at the plate this season and are picking up hits. Also having Whitney Williams back behind the plate this season has helped immensely."

The team will have two home games next week as they begin region play. First up will be Juan Diego on Tuesday. That will be a double header and begin at 2:30. Emery will roll into town on Thursday with game time at 3:30 p.m.
