HUNTINGTON - Our beloved Paul E. Palmer, age 81, passed away at Castleview Hospital in Price on Dec. 28, 2001.
He was born Jan. 23, 1920 in Mohrland to George Leo and Myrtle Ann Kirby Palmer. He married Viola Larsen on June 1, 1940 in Huntington and they were later sealed together in the Manti LDS Temple in 1957.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army.
Paul had been a coal miner, a carpenter and a craftsman. He was a true fish-a-holic and an avid gardener.
He will be missed greatly by wife, Viola Larsen Palmer, Huntington; six children, Karren and Orson Justice, Huntington; Phillip and Suzanne Palmer, Price; Tamara and Moli Mau Tupai, West Jordan; Larry and JoyLynn Palmer, Henderson, Nev.; David and Shella Palmer, Huntington; 25 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Edwin.
A viewing will be Monday, Dec. 31, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary, Castle Dale.
WEST JORDAN - Lyman Daniel Draper, age 67, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at his home.
Lyman was born Nov. 30, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant to Oliver and Irel Reynolds Draper. He married Margo Ann Cole on Oct. 17, 1957 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Lyman is survived by wife, Margo, West Jordan; children, Daniel (Diana) Draper, South Jordan; David (Collett) Draper, Battle Creek, Mich.; Deborah Dean, Pahrump, Nev.; Jeffrey (Becky) Draper, Bluffdale; Michelle ( Scott) Haskell, West Jordan; Steven (Kim) Draper, West Jordan; Kevin (Richelle) Draper, West Jordan; 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Lyman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Bobby; and four sisters, Anna, Dean, Lola and Emma.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 29, at Magleby-Furner Mortuary in Mt. Pleasant. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery, with military honors provided by VFW Post 9276 of Mt. Pleasant.
HELPER/ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. - Marjorie Guy Zaversnik, 85, of Rock Springs, Wyo., died Dec. 26, 2001 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.
A longtime Rock Springs resident and former resident of Helper, she was born Jan. 6, 1916 in Lewiston, Mont., the daughter of the late Harold and Florence Eaden Cook. She married Walter K. Guy in Randolph Sept. 21, 1934 and he preceded her in death on July 3, 1973. She later married Lewis W. Zaversnik in Helper on Aug. 3, 1985 and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2001.
Mrs. Zaversnik attended schools in Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming and was a graduate of Rock Springs High School Class of 1934. She was employed by the Eastern Utah Tobacco Company in Price as a bookkeeper for 22 years and retired in 1984. She was also employed by A. Hemenway-Moser Wholesale Company.
Mrs. Zaversnik enjoyed crafts. She was a member of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, past president of the Catholic Golden Age and Young at Hearts Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include two sons, Donald E. Guy and wife, Louise, Ellensburg, Wash.; Daniel W. Guy and wife, Sarie, Helper; one stepdaughter, Judith Ellis and husband, Richard, Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, six stepgrandchild-ren, 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Walter K. Guy; second husband, Lewis W. Zaversnik; son, James R. Guy; brother, Richard Cook; and two sisters, June Cook and Jessie Ellis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Dec. 31, 1p.m., at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs, Wyo. Rosary will be recited Sunday, Dec. 30, 7p.m., at Vase Funeral Chapel. Friends may callat Vase Chapel Sunday afternoon and evening until 8p.m. Graveside services and interment will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Mountain View Cemetery in Helper.
