The Mont Harmon Lady Pirates finished the 2006 season with a 56-33 victory over the Helper Lady Rams in the Castle Country Athletic Association's title game. That win capped an undefeated season for the Mont Harmon girls going 16 and 0.
"We came out ready to play Wednesday. The girls played great defense and the shots fell all night long. They played one of their best games on Wednesday night," said Mont Harmon Coach Danielle Jensen.
Leading the Lady Pirates in scoring was Tia Pappas with 20. Mariah Pollock contributed nicely with 10 and Kristen Jewkes poured in seven points while grabbing eight rebounds. Rounding out the Mont Harmon stats were Sarah Potts with six points and seven rebounds, Darrian Smith with nine points, Kenzie Cave with two and Kylee Lessar with two points and six rebounds.
"This team worked extremely hard all year long. They had one goal in mind and that was to win the tournament and keep a perfect record. They came a long way this year not only with their individual skills, but as a team. They understand how important teamwork is and that makes it so much fun to watch and coach. Carbon County will want to follow these girls as they play because we are going to see a lot of great things from them in the future," concluded Jensen.
