Officer Hyrum Cox checks the booking sheets in the control room at the Carbon County Jail. The corrections officers assume the responsibility of booking, housing, monitoring and releasing inmates at the facility, points out Lt. Justin Sherman. In addition to the lieutenant, two sergeants and 11 corrections officers man the jail on a 24-hour per day basis. At least two officers are scheduled to cover all shifts.
