Megan Garvin goes up for a layup against the Lady Spartans.

After a hard loss some teams have trouble getting back on track, this has not been the case with the Lady Dinos this season. Each time they have suffered defeat; they have righted their ship and put a W on the board.

Tuesday night was no exception as they defeated Juan Diego in their final region match-up of the season by the score of 47-35. They went back to playing in their typical style, getting down in the first quarter. As has been the case, so often this season, the team found itself behind by six at the end of the first period.

While the offense stepped it up in the second, the defense also tightened up and they limited Juan Diego to only four to grab a one point edge at the break.

Carbon came out strong in the third to push the lead to 11. Again both the offense and defense outplayed Juan Diego to take control of the game. With no fourth quarter drama this game, the Dinos held on to win by 12. "The third quarter was the turning point for us," mentioned Coach Carlson. Commenting on the fact that it didn't boil down to the final minutes of play to determine the outcome, she quipped, "I didn't know what to do with myself in the final minutes of the game."

Megan Garvin got her scoring touch going and hit for 16 points. She floated up a pair of threes. Julia Pots hit a three as some of her nine points. She also pulled in nine rebounds and got the team honor of the "Garbage girl" of the night. Garvin was named player of the game by the Carbon coaches.

The team gets a breather until the first round of the playoffs. They will be using that time to fine tune their game. "We will be working a few new things to add to our game for state." Carlson noted.

Carbon will be at home to meet up with Tooele on Saturday Feb. 17. Game time tip off will be 7 p.m. The game was listed as being played on Friday night, but the corresct information is Saturday. Emery will be matched up against Grantsville on Saturday in Castle Dale. If Carbon can take care of business at home they will head down to Dixie for the rest of the tournament.
