Lindell Wise

WELLINGTON/CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Lindell "Arky" Earl Wise 78, of Clarksville, Ark., passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 21, 1928 in Clarksville, Ark., to Earl B. and Virgie Mae Bohannan Wise.

He was a longtime resident in Wellington where he worked in the coal mines. After retiring from the coal mines he moved back to Clarksville, Ark.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include wife, Neomia Owens Wise, Clarksville, Ark.; children, Mildred Ann Anderson, Wellington; Don Ray Hansen, Stillwater, Okla.; Troy Wise, Lamar, Ark.; Linda Kay Wise, Conway, Ark.; Brandy Kay Dees Olivas, Price; sisters, Earlene Lipsey, La Mirada, Calif.; and Karlene Hawkins, Russellville, Ark. He had nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Earl B. and Virgie Bohannon Wise; wife of 47 years, Leola Mae Blalack Wise; daughter, La Danna Wise; and sister, Denise Wise Nichols.

Memorial Services were Saturday, Feb. 3 at the First Assembly of God Church in Clarksville, Ark.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 212 Natural Resources Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205 or Arkansas Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 2222, Little Rock, AR 72203.

Richard Larsen

PRICE - Richard Roy Larsen, age 44, passed away suddenly of heart failure on Feb. 4, 2007 at his home in Price.

He was born Nov. 14, 1962 in Moab to Willard G. and Darlenne Willett Larsen.

Richard had a love of music, and a special talent for singing and playing the guitar. He enjoyed performing and entertaining. He will always be remembered for his great impressions of Elvis. Richard was a devoted father, and he especially loved spending time with his boys. They enjoyed fishing, camping, sports, and playing games in the park.

Survived by the mother of his children, Donna Warren, Price; sons, Tate Richard and Quenton Melvin Larsen; daughter, Nicole Timothy; granddaughter, Olivia Timothy; all of Price; brother, George A. Larsen, Moab; sisters, Robin G. Larsen, Billings, Mont.; Sally L. Hinck, Sandy; and father, Willard G. Larsen, Sandy. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother.

Funeral service Friday, Feb. 9, noon, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell's Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment, Grand Valley cemetery, Moab, at 3 p.m.

Alice Silkwood

EAST CARBON - Alice Ione Mullen Silkwood, left this earth at 12:11 a.m., Tuesday morning, Feb. 6, 2007 to be with her Heavenly Father. She was surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, family and close friends after being diagnosed with cancer in July.

She was born May 19, 1921 in Judyville, Ind. to Alice Smith and Joseph Mullen. Married Claude Theodore Silkwood on Sept. 9, 1941; he passed away on April 11, 1984.

After Ted's passing Alice came to live with her daughter, Carol, in East Carbon. In 1984 she began working for the postal office in East Carbon where she worked for numerous years until her health started to take its toll. She was a member of the East Carbon Community Church, where she served the Lord in many positions. She was a very religious person who gave her all to everyone, and she was not one to complain. She loved to sew, garden and was an excellent cook. She will be dearly missed.

Survived by daughter, Carol (Virgil) Marquez, East Carbon; brother, Joe Mullen, Tucson, Ariz.; two half brothers, Joe (Diane) Mullen, Custer, South Dakota; Jim (Julie) Mullen, Texas; three grandchildren, Darin (Cindy) Hawkinson, Dana Radka, Greg Hawkinson; three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley and Cassandra; three great-great-grandchildren, Xavier, Anthony and Alexandra; and a community of loving friends and relatives. Preceded in death by parents; husband; sister, Dora; and grandson, Virgil Marquez Jr.

Upon Alice's request, cremation has taken place. Interment, will be at Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside at a later date.

Lori Gallegos

EAST CARBON - Eleria Montano Gallegos, age 73, passed away Jan. 31, 2007 in Price.

She was born May 2, 1933 in Durango, Colo., to Delphin and Rita Rodriquez Montano.

She was a resident of East Carbon since 1982. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and crafts. Lori dedicated her life to her family and she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survived by children, Joey Lopez, Salt Lake City; Dean Montano, Farmington, N.M.; Angel Gallegos, Stacy (Blair) Burton, Jodi Nunez, all of East Carbon; grandson, William Nunez, East Carbon; her partner of 43 years, Joe Quintana; brothers, Del, Paul, George; sisters, Mary and Jackie; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; sons, Dave and Randy Lopez; and grandsons, Nino Gallegos and Jay Lopez.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 3, at Eleria's home.

Ross Porter

HELPER/OREM - E. Ross Porter, 81, passed away Feb. 6, 2007 of congestive heart failure at the Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born May 16, 1925 to Melvin and Agnes Rice Porter in Helper.

He married Elizabeth Erickson on June 27, 1951 in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.

He graduated from Brigham Young University in chemistry in 1950.

He began his career teaching chemistry and math at the College of Eastern Utah.

He spent 25 years as a chem-lab supervisor at Geneva Steel, retiring in 1983.

He had a great knowledge of nutrition and holistic medicine and enjoyed helping those in need.

Ross and Elizabeth were blessed with five children.

He is survived by wife, of Orem; children, Denise (Ken) Austin, Pleasant Grove; David (Kathy) Porter, Orem; Paul (Denice) Porter, Pleasant Grove; Susan (Lance) Smith, Taylorsville; Evan (Toni) Porter, Gilbert, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brother, Lynn (Ann) Porter, Ft. Collins Colo. He was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Vernon and Burrell; and sister, Melva.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 10, 2 p.m. in the Sharon 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 641 S. 400 East, Orem. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street in Orem and also Saturday one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
