MSHA to issue $163,657 mine rescue, safety training grant to Utah for 2007
The United States Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration has announced the issuance of more than $7.9 million in training grants for 2007. Upon approval of the state's application for mine health and safety training funds, Utah will receive a federal grant of $163,657.
Grantees will use the funds to provide federally mandated training to workers at surface and underground coal, metal and non-metal mines.
The state grant program was authorized by the U.S. Coal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1969.
Organizers set team captains meeting for '07 American Cancer Society event
Representatives for the American Cancer Society will conduct the first team captains meeting concerning the upcoming 2007 Relay for Life on Feb. 8 in the Castleview Hospital classroom.
The meeting will provide information on getting started with fundraising for the event, which is slated in June.
Carbon County residents wishing to participate may contact Ruth Metzger at 637-7900. The theme for event is "Field of Dreams," with each team representing a professional baseball club. The event will be presented at the college track.
Wedding, special occasion show slated to start Feb. 10 on CEU campus in Price
The Holiday Springfest 2007 Extravaganza is scheduled Feb. 9 and Feb. 10 in the Jennifer Leavitt multipurpose room at College of Eastern Utah
Hosted by CEU's cosmetology department, the fundraising activity focuses on highlighting ideas and vendors for special events.
A fashion show featuring prom dresses, wedding gowns and tuxedos will be shown at 6 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 1 p.m. on Feb. 10. Admission fees required. Proceeds from the show provide scholarships to CEU cosmetology students.
