Rantings and Ravings

So Christmas is over for another year.

I never know whether I am disappointed or thrilled. A little of both I guess.

With the grand-kids living with us, it has revived the sparkle a bit. Our almost three year old is starting to get into the holidays this year.

She delighted in Halloween when she figured out that if you knocked on a door and said, "Trick or treat" that someone gave you something. So when you ask her what you say to Santa, she replies "Trick or treat!" I always had to trick Santa so he would think I was good enough for him to leave a treat for me on Christmas.

Our six year old is on the border of still believing in Santa. One change is that instead of a sleigh, she thinks he drives a big brown truck. Any day the brown truck came was a good day. We have a lot of family living out of state, so the brown truck came often.

I had a pleasant Christmas and received some nice gifts. The biggest one is that my husband had finally figured out the code. The code is when I say "You don't have to get me anything this year." When what I really mean is "I am not going to tell you what I want, but I am expecting you to get it for me anyway."

He makes it equally as difficult because he buys what he wants then really has no wants around the holidays. So I guess once in a while I really miss the boat when I try to guess what he wants. I can tell when that happens when he accidentally scoops up the gift with the trash.

I don't think I missed the mark this year as he didn't even try to help gather the trash. How do we generate so much in such a sort period of time anyway?

I still believe that toys are way over packed.

And so our house is filled with Dora's and Barbie's that need to find a place to live. We weaned out a few toys right before Christmas. I will sneak out a few more some day when they are both gone.

I hope you all had great holidays and see you on the sledding hill.
